Eco School Green Flag The Eco-Schools Green Flag is an international award for schools, nurseries, and colleges that demonstrate excellence in environmental action and education, awarded by Eco-Schools, the world's largest environmental programme for schools.
Healthy School - Bronze Award (January 2020) Our School has evidenced that it has completed Local Healthy Schools Review and have achieved the requirements for this award.
Healthy School - Silver Award (March 2020) In addition to holding a Bronze Award, the school has undertaken an analysis of pupils’ needs, to identify new actions that will help pupils achieve and maintain good health and wellbeing. This included one targeted and one school-wide action, and the school has made plans for how the changes will be delivered and measured.
iRock Want to join a band? We work iRock to provide children with the opportunity to be in their own rock and pop band. Under the guidance of an iRock music teacher, children rehearse weekly in the lead up to end of term concerts. Lessons are designed to be totally inclusive and take place during the school day. Lessons not only increase children's interest in music, confidence and creativity, they can help develop invaluable life skills which in turn help their overall academic success.
IQM Flagship status This award recognises us to be an IQM Inclusive School. To achieve this award the school has continued to demonstrate our commitment to outstanding levels of inclusive best practice.
Mentally Healthy School A mentally healthy school is one that adopts a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing. It is a school that helps children flourish, learn and succeed by providing opportunities for them, and the adults around them, to develop the strengths and coping skills that underpin resilience. A mentally healthy school sees positive mental health and wellbeing as fundamental to its values, mission and culture. It is a school where child, staff and parent/carer mental health and wellbeing is seen as ‘everybody’s business’.
National Online Safety - Certified School This award certifies that we have a whole school community approach in online safety is being undertaken by the establishment through empowering our leaders, teacher, governors, all staff and parents/carers. An effective community approach to online safety aims to protect and education pupils in their safe use of the internet and technology, whilst enabling trusted adults with the essential information to identify online risks and escalate any incident where appropriate.
Operation Encompass We are proud to be an Operation Encompass School. This is a partnership between police and schools to support children who have been involved in an incident of domestic violence. A member of the Safeguarding Team will be notified prior to the start of the next school day that the police have attended an incident of domestic abuse. This timely information sharing enables us to provide appropriate support for that child so that all interactions, from when the child first arrives at the school gates, are of a positive nature.
School Games Mark The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.
Schools 360 Degree Safe Our School has made a commitment to engage with the 360 degree safe self review tool, this means of reviewing practice and implementing actions that will improve online safety at the school.
TfL Travel for Life TfL Travel for Life is an accredited programme with the goal to increase active and sustainable travel options when travelling to and from school, reduce car use and improve safety. From helping little Londoners be safe around roads, to supporting primary and secondary children to become more active, responsible and safe we are working hard for all!
Waltham Forest Music Service We work in partnership with Waltham Forest Music Service to provide whole class tuition. From ukelele to the violin, we offer a range of instruments children can learn to play throughout their time at Sybourn Primary. We also have specialist music tutors who offer private music lessons during the school day for a range of instruments.
